REST

Heart Prep

Take this time to pray and ask God for rest in your life for your mind, heart, soul, and body.

Mark 6:31 “And He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.’
(For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat).”

Jesus talked a lot about rest during His ministry here on the earth, and it’s so important to Him for His people to have rest. He rested on the seventh day, and He instituted the Sabbath as a day of rest for Israel. We still need a day of rest each week. I think that’s an awesome picture and shows how much He loves us. He wants us to have rest in our minds, hearts, souls, and bodies. He knows the importance of that. Jesus was a believer in rest, and we should be, too. Life can be so exhausting sometimes. People can be exhausting. Working can be exhausting. He knows that, so He emphasizes the importance of rest. If you can think of it in this way, babies need lots of naps because they’re constantly growing, and that’s exhausting in itself. We are like those babies, constantly growing and working toward the next step in our lives. So make time in your life for rest! I know there are tons of homework to do, tests to study for, friends to hang out with, social lives to nurture, but you also need to make time for yourself to rest. And to rest in the Lord. Take some time to rest your mind. A lot of information is sent through it each day, and it needs time to cool down (from social media as well.) Your emotions and heart need rest as well. It helps me to journal out my thoughts and feelings sometimes. It creates some sort of healthy release for me. It might just do the same for you. God knows what you need when you need it. Stick close to Him and He will provide for you. The people Jesus was talking to came away with Him to rest. That makes a huge difference. Resting with Jesus, versus resting in Netflix and social media, doesn’t even compare. Jesus FULLY satisfies when you come to Him. Rest in Him today, and find true peace.
