Draw Near to God

Pray and ask God to help you to see His love in a real way today. Ask Him to help you to see it in a different way today, a fresh way.

James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Have you ever felt alone? Have you ever felt like God doesn’t hear you or know you? Here’s your instruction: draw near to God and He will draw near to you. The neat part is that He’s already drawn near to you by sacrificing His Son to die for you. He sent His perfect Son, Jesus, to die for you, to pay for your sins, so that you could have eternal life with the Father.  He did this so that you would be free from your sin and from the death it brings, and so that you could experience a relationship with the One True Father. It’s honestly the best relationship you could ever have; I’m speaking from experience. He never leaves--never walks off from you. He’s constantly there for you with everlasting love and mercy (lovingkindness) that is new every single day (Lamentations 3:22-23).

He took a step toward you by sending His Son. Now it’s your turn. Whether you’ve already accepted Christ into your heart and have a relationship with Him, but have been slacking on your part, or if you don’t have a relationship with Him at all, it’s your turn to take a step closer to Him. When you do that, He will be there, and His step will be to reach out to you and draw you close. God never changes, and He never moves. If you are not as close to Him as you once were, it’s you who has moved. But He won’t force Himself on you. You “draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Take that in, believe it, and apply it. Come to Him humbly and just talk to Him, read your Bible, just start somewhere. He will come.

In what way will I draw near to God today?

What will that look like for me personally in my life?

How will I commit to doing this on a regular basis?
