God Whispers
Heart Prep
Think about your biggest dream for your life. Can you say it out loud?
Proverbs 19:21 "Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the counsel of the Lord will stand."
I remember the first time I thought of “my dream”. It was so wild that I couldn’t even say it out loud. I was standing on stage for the very first time, dressed like an old lady, complete with wrinkles, hilariously oversized reading glasses, and a fake leather purse stuffed with just about everything that should not go into a fake leather purse. (Possibly a rubber chicken, but that’s all I’ll say.) I had just delivered my line for the only show I had ever been in, and after the audience’s giant wave of laughter subsided, there was the briefest moment of silence where I heard it. It was just a whisper, but I heard it. “This is it Lindsey, you’re going to be an opera singer one day.” Um, what? Now that’s a crazy thought, right? I didn’t know the first thing about opera. I had never even BEEN TO an opera! Where did that even come from? ……….... God.
God whispers these dreams that you have in your heart (whether big or small) into existence for you, and it is up to you to help them grow. A lot of times when God whispers a dream into our hearts, we tend to just lay it aside and wish it well, because we assume it is too impossible, or that maybe it was just a silly thought in our heads. We doubt, we question, and we underestimate the power of God. Any dream that God puts into your heart will always prosper. Always. How can you be sure a dream in your heart has been placed there by God? Pray about it, ask Him to close doors if this dream is not from Him and to open them if it is from Him and His will. It may not be clear from the start, but God never puts a dream into motion when He doesn’t have a larger purpose for it. As for me, you ask? It has been 10 years since I heard my whisper, and guess what? Lindsey became an opera singer.
