He Holds My Hand

Heart Prep

God, help me to see how You are holding my hand no matter where I am.

Psalm 37: 23-24: “The steps of a man are established by the LORD, And He delights in his way.
When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the LORD is the One Who holds his hand.”

My family and I enjoy hiking together. We have hiked some trails in Tennessee that are very narrow because they stretch along the sides of the hills, offering gorgeous views of the Appalachian Mountains. I’ve never hiked there during dangerous weather, but I can imagine if the trail were wet or icy it would be almost impossible to pass along it without a guide; maybe even someone to hold your hand. Why? Because, if your foot slipped, you could slide down the side of the mountain, probably to your death.

That’s the picture David is giving us in these verses. The Lord establishes our steps. If we stumble, slip, or fall we won’t be hurled to our death. We will be secure because He is there holding our hand. He delights in the journey He has chosen for us. He has picked out exactly where we are to go, and He will be going with us. It may seem tough at times, but rest assured, you are His child and He will guide you each step of the way.

Life Application

What is God saying to me?

Something I want to remember from this is....

How does this change my life and what are my next steps?
