Waiting Patiently

Heart Prep

God, teach me how to wait patiently on you.

Psalm 37:7 “Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him;”

I told you we would get back to the waiting.  David tells us in verse 7 of Psalm 37 to “REST in the Lord and wait patiently for Him”. Hold on to that verse, girls. Now, I’m sure not one of you is like this, but I have control issues. When I want something, I figure out what I can do to get it. If I can’t do anything, I get mad and pout and sulk up. I will work and work and work trying to make something happen. This verse tells me not to do that. It says to “rest”. Chill out. Stop all that working and let the Lord do what is best.

WAIT PATIENTLY for HIM.  I’m not good at waiting or being patient, and this verse tells me to do both at the same time!  Wait on the Lord, patiently. One thing I have learned in my life is that things always work out better if I let God have control instead of trying to make something happen by myself.  I wanted to be married so badly that I rushed ahead and dated some guys I had no business dating; just because I wanted to make it happen. But when I finally quit all my working and trying, God sent my husband, and he is the man for me! Sometimes, we have to wait patiently and trust God to do what He does best. It’s the waiting that is so hard because we can’t see what is ahead. God can! Trust Him to give you His best.
