Resurrection Power
Heart Prep
God, thank You for being so powerful. Help me to truly understand what the Resurrection of Jesus means for me this Easter.
Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Easter has come to mean a new dress, egg hunts, a bunny that lays eggs (what???), a family get-together, and sometimes a church service squeezed in. Let’s make this Easter different. Let’s pause to think about what Easter means for Christians.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was crucified. He took upon Himself our sin and our punishment-- death (Romans 6:23). He was buried, and three days later He arose from the dead! We know God accepted His Blood as a substitute for ours. He defeated death, Hell, and the grave. These no longer have any power over those of us who belong to Him. This is the wonderful story of Easter! Then, He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. From the moment we accept God’s gift of salvation, we have Eternal Life even as we continue to live in our body of flesh.
If you are a Christian but have become trapped in sin, shame, and guilt, remember that you have the same power within you that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. The Spirit of God can break you free! You no longer need to live as a slave to sin. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If you have never accepted the gift that God has for you, the gift of eternal life, you can have it right now by admitting you are a sinner and cannot save yourself, believing Jesus died for you, and asking Him to come into your heart and life. Accept that gift now. Claim it! It is for you!
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that (salvation) not of your own selves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works . . .” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Life Application
Read, then memorize Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
