Rejoicing In My Reward

Heart Prep

Thank You, Jesus, that You are my ultimate reward.
No matter what happens in this life, help me to look to You and trust You.

Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Think about a time when you have really wanted to win something. Maybe you wanted to win an athletic competition. Maybe you wanted to win an award at school. Maybe you wanted to win a free car at the mall. We have all wanted to win at something, but one of the things we want to win most is the acceptance of those around us. We might be tempted to do things we wouldn’t normally do in order to fit in. We might wear certain clothes, speak a certain way, or go to certain places just to fit in and be liked. This acceptance is short-lived and isn’t truly fulfilling. Growing up is difficult, and becoming the kind of person you want to be can be overwhelming. As a daughter of God, it is important to remember that you are living your life for God and not for anyone else. People around you may fail you. They may insult you because of the stand you take for Jesus. They may persecute you because you live differently than they do. Jesus said that you will be blessed for enduring these things and that you will have a great reward in heaven. Do not be disheartened or feel defeated. You have the ultimate reward in Jesus, and eternity with Him in heaven. Today, ask God to help you remember that He is your ultimate reward. You have already won because you have Jesus!

Life Application

What is God saying to me?

Something I want to remember from this is...

How does this change my life and what are my next steps?
